Join an indigenous elder for a unique Cape York adventure retracing the steps of Aborigines from thousands of years ago.
A total indigenous cultural experience, 5 Star Adventures new Cape York Camping and Discovery Tour takes a maximum of just 12 guests to an area never accessed on a guided tour before. The week-long tour is led by indigenous Elders and is spent exploring the isolated beaches, coral reefs and rainforests within easy reach of the base camp on a beach near Cooktown. Some of the highlights include traditional hunting and gathering, visiting the coloured sands canyon, making traditional art work, visiting old indigenous graves and other heritage sites, learning about bush foods and medicine, spear fishing in the shallows, and exploring the surrounding river ways by boat to catch (and cook) barramundi for dinner. Guests stay in large tents on the beach with foam mattresses and Sheraton linen, while meals are prepared freshly by host Danielle Boissevain. The tour is offered six times per year – once a month from May until October. www.5staradventure.com.au
