Step back in time to the golden days of silent movie theatres at the Majestic Theatre at Pomona in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.
Built in 1921, the Majestic Theatre is Australia's oldest continuously operating cinema and hosts regular screenings of classic silent films, complete with organ accompaniment. Don’t be surprised if your fellow cinema-goers laugh, cry, shout, stamp and singalong to the comedy, drama and romance as you are transported to the golden age of silent cinema. Every Thursday night, the theatre screens Rudolph Valentino in the silent classic, “The Son of the Sheik” and hosts an annual silent film festival in September. Morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and light meals are available from Valentino’s Café, while a licensed bar and candy counter are also on offer. Matinee screenings can be arranged for coach groups. www.themajestictheatre.com.au
